Automobiles in German Town Found Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Officers mentioned they were notified by a individual who found a vehicle in Hanau smeared with reddish substance

Roughly 50 cars have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.

The fluid had been applied in the form of a swastika, they added.

Officers then found multiple other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement say initial examinations suggest the fluid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no indication as to its source; investigators are not yet cognizant of any injuries in relation with the event," they stated.

City officials announced they were attempting "to unravel the mystery" and have appealed to the residents for details.

A senior representative said the incident rendered him without words and had to be solved rapidly.

"This event hits the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on online, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
